RESPONSIBILITIES

Molokai General Hospital is a 15-bed rural health care facility with a Critical Access Hospital designation.  It provides the only emergency room for the residents and visitors on the island of Molokai.  MGH became a part of The Queen’s Health Systems in 1987 and provides acute care, inpatient hospice, skilled nursing, and low-risk obstetrical services.  It also offers primary care in a rural health clinic, chemotherapy, limited specialty procedures, diabetes management, family planning, physical therapy (including aquatic therapy), veterans services and chronic disease navigation services.  This position offers excellent benefits.

I.             JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Responsible to the Director of Nursing and under the direction of the Charge Nurse.         
•  Provides direct and indirect nursing care to the patients assigned to him/her during a given period of        time.      
•  Documents actions and findings in the electronic health record. 
•  Participates in implementing the plan of care as directed by the RN.
•  Notifies assigned RN of changes in patient trends and /or condition, including patient's emotional and physical needs.
 
II.            TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
Essential functions- Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, finger dexterity, lifting weight up to 75 pounds, pushing/pulling weight up to 150 pounds, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level.     
Continuous: Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, reaching at and below shoulder level.   
Operates Hoyer lift, beds, wheelchairs, gurneys, computer, and other office equipment.    

III.           TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Both inside and outside environmental conditions; hazardous physical conditions; and atmospheric conditions which affect the respiratory system or skin. 
 
IV.          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.            Education/Certification and Licensure:
1.  High School graduate or the equivalent.
2.  Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistant, OR Certified Nurse Aide, OR Nurse Aide training. 
3.  BLS/HCP level certification.  

B.             Experience:
1.  Ability to read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
2.  One (1) year experience as a Nurse Aide preferred.
3.  Ability to relate effectively to patients of all ages, their families, and staff.
4.  Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality required.
