I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of instrument processing, supply, and distribution functions in CPD, OR Core, SDS or department as assigned. Performs duties in accordance with Body Substance Isolation, established departmental procedures and accepted techniques.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Essential: standing, walking, kneeling, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking; lifting usual weight of 15 pounds up to 25 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of 50 pounds up to 150 pounds; carrying maximum weight of 25 pounds. Frequent stooping/bending. Operates sterilizers, cart lift, cart washer, computer, copier, etc.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Subjected to heat while wearing protective uniform and working in decontam. Subjected to noise/vibration from sterilizers and equipment. Exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals. Minimal exposure to fumes and gases. Work environment may sometimes be mentally and emotionally stressful.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education/Certification and Licensure:
1.Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
2.High school diploma or equivalent education.
3.Successful completion of the Central Supply Technician Training Course preferred.
1.One (1) year CPD experience preferred.
2.Experience in cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments preferred.
3.Knowledge of automated systems preferred.
